Did you know the origins of the word free is Germanic meaning "beloved, not in bondage" and Indo-European meaning "to, love". How poetic is it that freedom is rooted in love and beloved. So by definition being free is an act of love. How often do you give yourself permission to be free?
The discussion around being in my freest state has crossed my mind often lately. I've been reflecting on what I have done to keep myself free and unbridled. I turned contemplation to action by actively practicing freedom in the smallest to grandest ways.
As big an act as envisioning and then planning my future or just using enjoying a hot cup of coffee. Freedom is a rebellious act of love and a commitment to authenticity. I am the creator of the life I live. I find freedom in the routine of making freshly ground french press coffee or a matcha tea latte with whipped cream, steamed foam just the way I love it.Freedom is creating an environment of peace, beauty and comfort. An oasis of my design all around me.
Today ask yourself when are you at your freest.
Write it down. All the ways and then take the time to put them into action. When I asked myself that question so many beautiful things come to mind. Look below for some of my answers.
I am my freest when...
I am my freest when i drive on open road in the summer time with my windows down and speakers blasting music.
I am my freest when I’m cleaning dishes, singing and dancing to music in my kitchen.
I am my freest when I’m sitting under the stars at night just looking.
I am my freest when I’m laughing with my sisters and being forced to make random Tik Toks.
I am my freest when my daughters try to run from my smothery hugs.
I am freest listening to my mom, dad and aunt tell me stories of their lives.
I am my freest when I sit next to my living room window wide open first thing in the morning when the air is crisp and the sun is up. I’m reading a book and just listening to the birds talk and wind sing whispers.
I am my freest when a stranger says thank you for listening to me. Thank you for letting me be.
Just opening about these memories and thoughts of freedom bring such a beautiful amount of peace and comfort. You deserve freedom. We all do.
Happy Friday,
Jaminah B.
